I would have loved listening to this third story in the trilogy, if I had first listened to the preceding two novels. unfortunately I didn't, so I found it rather confusing and slow moving. However I appreciated the skilful use of language.

A book to really settle into and enjoy!

Thanks Rachel for another bush story that I thoroughly enjoyed - out here in the Wheatbelt. I loved the premis of a teacher adding to a country town population when linking to a local farmer, but especially the twist of a male teacher and female farmer. Hopefully all readers will gain just that little more insight into those disabled in any way, but especially our behaviour when interacting with amputees. Loved the book!

This could have been a most enjoyable experience if it were not for the narrator. His voice was stilted and overly emphatic, ruining the whole listening experience. The plot was sufficiently intriguing, the characters believable and the setting authentic. A shame it was spoiled by the voice. The little novella at the end was extremely powerful!

As usual a really intriguing story that keeps you enthralled and guessing. The touches of humour keep the story light-hearted despite the gruesome subject. Cant wait for another book. The TV program really doesn't do the books justice.

It's like coming back into a family - like you've been away and have come home, straight into an exciting situation, with all the characters you know so well. A good twisting tale with Jim Daly and offsider Scott, trying to solve an intriguing plot. Well done!

I can't believe that Peter May could have foreseen the world's viral pandemic years before it happened. Other wise thinking people warned of the possibility, but Peter May's writing, released at this time in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic is so well written, reflecting the fears, the panic and the inhumanity of people with power. Absolutely mesmerising!
