Paul Strom is the perfect husband: breadwinner, protector, provider. That's why he's planned a romantic weekend for his wife, Mia, at their lake house, just the two of them. And he's promised today will be the best day ever. But as Paul and Mia drive out of the city and toward the countryside, a spike of tension begins to wedge itself between them, and doubts start to arise. How perfect is their marriage, or any marriage, really? How much do they trust each other? Is Paul the person he seems to be? And what are his secret plans for their weekend?

The narrator was great but the second half felt flat, the first half was great and I will definitely be registering just for that

Sous chef Aimee Tierney has the perfect recipe for the perfect life: marry her childhood sweetheart, raise a family, and buy out her parents' restaurant. I love crime, thrillers, mysteries, twists and turns, but I was bored 3 chapters in. I looked up the book summary online and decided that I would rather not spend another 7 hours listening to this book.
Boring, dull, unrealistic, farfetched, bland characters. I only liked Lacie.
Don't waste your time or money.

The topic of alcoholism is always tough. Prowse did a great job! However for a first time reader, I would recommend another book by like her Perfect Daughter. If I had read this book before Prowses others, I doubt I would have continued reading her books to be honest.

All Jackie wants is for her children to have brighter futures than she did. So long as Martha, the eldest, gets into university and follows her dreams, all her sacrifice will be worth something...won't it?
