My Favourite Book Ever

This book is the best book I have ever read and it began my love affair with John Boyne's writing. I laughed, I cried and I felt anger and happiness, which is exactly what a good book should do. Boyne's writing just flows beautifully and he always has some great plot twists. The narrator had a great voice and made the audiobook experience even more enjoyable. I think everyone should read this book. I ended up listening to this twice and I bought the physical book too.

The narrator's voice was just fantastic. It was soothing yet entertaining at the same time and I think it really added to the audiobook experience. Even if I didn't like the story, I probably would have kept listening for the narrator. The story itself was also great. I actually found the recount of Eleanor's daily activities very relaxing, and I enjoyed the gradual build-up to the plot twist. I would read this again, and I recommend it for everyone.

I didn't mind the story overall, it wasn't my favourite and it seemed a bit pointless but it would have been better with a different narrator. The narrator's voice was incredibly annoying and I really struggled to get through the audiobook as a result. I would recommend reading the physical book instead.

Very well researched and includes many people who had first-hand involvement in the case. It was great having all of the different people's voices involved. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to hear about the case being solved.

This story made me feel gross. The female characters in this book were catty, hateful and overall they just emitted bad energy. The plot twist at the end did not change my view of the particular character, the damage had been done. After reading it I felt anxious and deflated. The narrator's voices were also hard to listen to after a while, particularly the voice of Verity. I recommend this book for anyone that likes this kind of twisted and malicious story, but do not read this if you're after a 'feel good' story.

No where near as good as The Tattooist of Auschwitz. Nothing happened in the story. It was a story about a normal hospital that just happened to be set after WWII. The narrator’s voice was very difficult to listen to after a while. It was hard to get through this audiobook and I considered giving up many times.

This book occurs in two different timelines. Eve’s storyline in WWI was interesting, and was the only reason why I persevered. However, Charlie’s storyline after WWII ruined the book for me. Charlie was very unlikeable and selfish. Somehow the narrator’s voice made me dislike Charlie even more? Loved the narration. Louise’s voice was a bit annoying but Jack’s voice made up for it. Gripping story. I can usually guess the ending at the beginning of the book but this had me stumped until 3/4 of the way through which was great.

No point.

Very trivial story with no point to it. Narrator’s voice incredibly annoying. Would not recommend.

Narrator was fantastic, however the story had no real purpose and involved a lot of rambling. I really just stuck around to listen to the narrator’s accent.
