I can’t believe I finished this sophomoric angst ridden psycho drama. The first person narrator, Isa made me want to scream. The ONLY positive thing I have to say is that Imogen Church in her Audible rendering made it bearable.

I enjoy the Robyn Carter books and generally Emma Newman reads well. BUT, and it’s a big “but”for me, I am driven to distraction by the way Newman diphthongises “a”in all situations. I can’t work out whether it’s pretentious or just fingernails on blackboard irritating. So I give up. The odd mispronunciation of a challenging word in an audiobook is forgivable but I’m done with Wyer books read by Emma Newman.

I rarely bother to write reviews, but Gytha Lodge is going to be a force to be reckoned with. I was gripped from start to finish. Bravo!

I’m still not sure what I think of the story. So distracted was I by Tavia Gilbert’s narration which I found truly grating, I tuned out at times.
