I've previously read this book and loved it. Hearing it on Audible whilst driving to and from work was a welcome distraction. It really saddens me to know that this is based on true experiences of the young orphans and I'm sure it only scratches the surface of what really happened in these institutions run by trusted religions.
The book is really well written and definitely brings out all of the emotions in the reader (listener).

Another great episode of the Jane Tennyson series. As always, well written and interesting twists in the plot.
Gripping to listen to - only downside was that audible kept skipping - not sure if it's an editing or download problem - would recommend.

Beautifully written. A story that needs to be told

Possibly the most memorable book I've experienced. Every emotion is captured and every character bought to life.
The horror of life in the prison camps, daily routines and stories of survival and romance. This book has everything, even humour.
The audible narration is good - I would definitely recommend.

This had me hooked from beginning to end - twists and turns all the way and written in Lesley's usual intuitive style.

This story had me hooked from the start. I only listen whilst driving to and from work. This made my journey fly by and I couldn't wait to get back in the car to hear more

I found this story difficult to listen to. The constant use of "he said, she said" was frustrating and unnecessary. I have avidly read all of Michael Connelly's previous books and although the story had substance, this didn't feel as if it was written by him or to his usual standard (sorry Michael).
Perhaps it was just that the audible version wasn't as good as reading the book myself.

I loved reading this story originally a few years ago. Whilst working at home during lockdown I've been listening to her books on Audible. Although this isn't the best narration it was gripping and kept me mentally stimulated. Lynda has a real flair with her stories - the characters are so believable and "human" you can relate to all the emotions and tensions. The procedural stuff is totally credible and you can tell that a huge amount of research goes on behind each story.
