Miryem is the daughter and granddaughter of moneylenders, but her father’s too kindhearted to collect his debts. They face poverty until Miryem hardens her own heart and takes up his work in their village. Her success creates rumours she can turn silver into gold, which attract the fairy king of winter himself. He sets her an impossible challenge - and if she fails, she’ll die. Yet if she triumphs, it may mean a fate worse than death. And in her desperate efforts to succeed, Miryem unwittingly spins a web which draws in the unhappy daughter of a lord.

Enjoyed this a lot, for a bunch of rrasons but a word of warning. the narrator doesn't seperate the character's voices much and because the author or people who to turned this to audio didn't give any heads up when your shifting between characters from one paragraph or sub chapter to the next it can sometimes be a bit disorienting figuring out which character’s scene it is. particularly if you haven't listened for a day or two.
but please don't hesitate to listen as the story and performance are otherwise great!

For eons, conquering dungeons has been the most efficient way to become a strong adventurer. Although not everything is as straightforward as it seems. Several questions have always plagued the minds of those who enter these mythical places of power: why are there so many monsters? Where do the amazing weaponry and heavy gold coins come from? Why does the very air fill with life-giving energies? Cal has all of the answers to these age-old questions, for a very simple reason. He is a Dungeon Heart.
