Story
The sun is bloated, diseased, dying perhaps. Beneath its baneful light, Shadrapar, last of all cities, harbours fewer than 100,000 human souls. Built on the ruins of countless civilisations, Shadrapar is a museum, an asylum, a prison on a world that is ever more alien to humanity. Bearing witness to the desperate struggle for existence between life old and new is Stefan Advani: rebel, outlaw, survivor. This is his testament, an account of the journey that took him into the blazing desolation of the western deserts and into the labyrinths and caverns of the underworld.

I really enjoyed the black flag series and it's not something I usually listen too, so I found it to be jumping around a little in the beginning. reaching the end of book 5 I was supprised to find a few unanswered questions, and unfinished plots. just needed that final neat finish for me, but perhaps this is the way it was supposed to finish and I just need to accept that. like I said though, I wasn't disappointed with this series.

Story
In this vast and gorgeous tapestry of a novel, serf and master, Cossack and tsar, priest and Jew are brought together in a family saga which unrolls through centuries of history to reveal that most impenetrable and mysterious of lands - Russia. Through the life of a little town east of Moscow in the Russian heartland, Edward Rutherfurd creates a sweeping family saga from the baffling contradictions of Russia's culture and her peoples - bleak yet exotic, brutal but romantic, land of ritual yet riddled with superstitious fears.

A wonderful, epic story that tells the history of the greatest city in the world, from Roman times to the present day. From the author of Paris, Sarum and New York. London has perhaps the most remarkable history of any city in the world. Now its story has a unique voice. In this epic novel, Edward Rutherfurd takes the listener on a magnificent journey across 16 centuries.

well it's not my usual book as I work out doors and often like zombie apocalypse, spy and action books lol where it's more about the action and not so much the story. However during COVID I've been stuck at home unable to work, my wife suggested that I try something different. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone, so much so that my next book will also be an Edward Rutherford book about Russia... I'll no doubt return to my trusty action books when I return to work, but for now I'm very pleased with Eddy.

Ex-CIA master assassin Court Gentry has always prided himself on his ability to disappear at will, to fly below the radar and exist in the shadows - to survive as the near-mythical Gray Man. But when he takes revenge upon a former employer who betrayed him, he exposes himself to something he’s never had to face before. A killer who is just like him.
