I just love this series and the only thing I don't like having finished it is that I've now got to wait for the author to write the next exciting sequel in this utterly edge of the seat series! The characters are all very well fleshed out and clearly established, and you can't help but identify with them. This book takes you right through the full gammut of emotions, but in a logical and not overplayed way. The plot is clever and not at all predictable for the most part, which I love. If I sound enthusiastic, it is because I just finished the book and it leaves you on a great high with a feeling of satisfaction. Can't wait for the next exciting instalment. Bring it on!

Just like the first book in the series, this is a sequel that smashes it out of the park! You can't help but be pulled into the story by your proverbial boot straps! If it were the physical book I was reading instead of the much more convenient Audible version I had the distinct pleasure of listening to, I'd say you couldn't put the book down, which makes this a perfect Audible book because you can allegedly do other things while listening. I say allegedly because you can't do them very well, not with such a captivating story that demands your attention playing away!

Jay Alan's style of writing forces you to concentrate and pay attention so you don't miss any vital parts of the story. While it's not complicated, it's not something you can just drift along in either. Nor is it entirely predictable - which is another thing I love about his style of writing. Now... On to book 3. :-)

Captivating story right from the outset...

This brilliantly written book tells the story of 3 different races although at first it took me a while to pick up on some of the transitions between going from one race to another. That was more due to me not paying close attention as I listened to the audio book rather than any problem with the way the book is written, or I would have encountered problems later when I was paying attention and I didn't. The characters are superbly fleshed out and genuinely identifyable sorts of people we all have known. It's the mind of story that plays out so real, you can definitely imagine yourself in it. Not every beloved character survives this battle but that's all I'm saying. Stop reading reviews already and get the dang book! I assure you, you'll be glad you did!

I have followed every book in the series right from the beginning of James Drake's adventures and I've loved every moment of it. There is no lack of action for the true Sci fi lover here! The characters are all eminently believable and well portrayed and fleshed out. This is just great stuff!

Switching to the audible versions has been a sheer delight as the performance by Steve Barnes is nothing less than inspired. I don't think I could go back to reading the novels as I would be missing so much! Michael Wallace's books and audible go hand in hand. Highly Recommended!
