Gotta Get Theroux This
- My Life and Strange Times on Television
- By: Louis Theroux
- Narrated by: Louis Theroux
- Length: 13 hrs and 12 mins
In 1994, fledgling journalist Louis Theroux was given a one-off gig on Michael Moore’s TV Nation, presenting a segment on apocalyptic religious sects. Gawky, socially awkward and totally unqualified, his first reaction to this exciting opportunity was panic. But he’d always been drawn to off-beat characters, so maybe his enthusiasm would carry the day. Or, you know, maybe it wouldn’t.... In his book, Louis takes the listener on a joyous journey through his life and unexpectedly successful career.

A great read Theroux and Theroux
Really well written and referenced book. Very enjoyable. So insightful to know not only what Louis was thinking while filming, but also the trials and tribulations of putting the programmes together and his own personal journey. I selfishly hoped he would cover more of his programmes but I understand that this would have been prohibitive given preciousness of time and editorial limits. Was also pleasantly surprised that Louis’ voice when pronouncing “a series” is sufficiently close to mine saying “hey siri” and thereby triggering a response from my iphone.
