Practitioners across the globe continue to use jujitsu as a tool for personal development. For many, the jujitsu academy is the one place in which we purposefully practice virtuous action. On Jiu Jitsu seeks to codify the mechanisms by which jujitsu shapes the individual, as the character traits required to achieve mastery in sport are the same that our highest humanity requires.

You'll look at every roll, and aspect of the mats in a new way. I was sceptical about spending a credit on such a short listen, but it was absolutely worth it. I can see whipping this book out many times over the years, in those plateaus when motivation gets hard.

Story
In The End Is Always Near, Dan Carlin connects the past and future in fascinating and colourful ways, exploring a question that has hung over humanity like the sword of Damocles from the collapse of the Bronze Age to the nuclear era - that of human survival. Combining his trademark mix of storytelling, history and thought experiments, Carlin forces us to consider what sounds like fantasy: that we might suffer the same fate as all previous civilisations. Will our world ever become a ruin for future archaeologists to dig up and explore?

Story
Some people bounce back in response to setbacks; others break. We often think that these responses are hardwired, but fortunately this is not the case. Stoicism offers us an alternative approach. Plumbing the wisdom of one of the most popular and successful schools of thought from ancient Rome, philosopher William B. Irvine teaches us to turn any challenge on its head. The Stoic Challenge, then, is the ultimate guide to improving your quality of life through tactics developed by ancient Stoics, from Marcus Aurelius and Seneca to Epictetus.

compared to his excellent 'A Guide to the Good Life', this book felt more faddish, mainstream and 'self-helpish'. nonetheless, a witty and wise handbook on applying stoicism to your life.

Story
For his victims, for their families and for the investigators tasked with finding him, the senselessness and brutality of the Golden State Killer's acts were matched only by the powerlessness they felt at failing to uncover his identity. Then, on April 24, 2018, authorities arrested 72-year-old Joseph James DeAngelo at his home in Citrus Heights, Calif., based on DNA evidence linked to the crimes. Amazingly, it seemed, evil finally had a name. Please note: This work contains descriptions of violent crime and sexual assault and may not be suitable for all listeners.

simply incredible. less of an audiobook and more of a Netflix style full production with background music, the accounts from the real participants on the case and victims are captivating. it captures the challenges of a life dedicated to catching bad guys. best story and production I've heard on Audible.

fantastical action-packed plot, with well structured, interesting storytelling. I find Cussler's dialogue somewhat unnatural, like every character is a walking thesaurus. I can't really rate the narrator as I haven't heard enough.
