Story
Raw, gritty, compassionate, surprising and darkly funny - Australian legend Jimmy Barnes' unforgettable childhood memoir. A household name, an Australian rock icon, the elder statesman of OzPubRock - there isn't an accolade or cliché that doesn't apply to Jimmy Barnes. But long before Cold Chisel and Barnesy, long before the tall tales of success and excess, there was the true story of James Dixon Swan - a working class boy whose family made the journey from Scotland to Australia in search of a better life.

100 times better than expected

I’m a fan of Jimmy’s music but I had my doubts about him as a person. I thought this might be a semi interesting book. But it was so much more than just a biography of a ‘famous person’. It was raw, it was real and it really highlighted the reality of living in poverty, in a broken family with domestic abuse but without ramming political views down your throat. This is fact. The good and the bad. The way he presents the story is entertaining and almost like you’re sitting around the camp fire. Reality. I want more and will definitely be reading the next book. I have such a fondness for Jimmy as a person now, not just for his music. You do not need to be a Jimmy Barnes fan to read this book! I definitely recommend it💜

Story
The rules for living in the real world have changed, because the world we live in has changed. Much of the conventional wisdom the last generation has passed on just doesn't apply like it once did. If you want to win, and win big, and, more importantly, keep what you work so hard for, you need a crystal-clear view of how the real world works - not how you wish it worked, but how it actually works.

Not sure what I was expecting but this exceeded it. Such great practical advice. Dr Phil nailed the BAITER. Dr Phil annoys me a bit on his show (I sometimes find him arrogant and condescending) but he is spot on in this audiobook. He teaches. Excellent. I recommend to all

Science is beginning to understand that our thinking has a deep and complicated relationship with our eating. Our thoughts before, during, and after eating profoundly impact our food choices, our digestive health, our brain health, and more. Yet most of us give very little thought to our food beyond taste and basic nutritional content.

Dr Leaf does it again!🌻

This content is confronting but somehow she makes the book inspiring. The content is scientifically and neurologically based and as Dr Leaf is a Christian, she also includes biblical referencing. Dr Carolyn is all about choice and facts, not ramming the bible down your throat. Very interesting book but the narrator performance lets the book down. Bit robotic in places and sometimes emphasises the wrong words. The book is still worth it for the content though

Explained in simple terms and backed with scientific evidence and biblical scripture. For me, the only downfall is the narrator, I prefer a more casual speaker. I found her voice a little ‘text book’.

Christians often focus so much on being loving and giving that they forget their own limits and limitations. Have you ever found yourself wondering: Can I set limits and still be a loving person? How do I answer someone who wants my time, love, energy, or money? Why do I feel guilty when I consider setting boundaries?

The content of this book is next level. Henry did a good job at narrating the book and what he is delivering is gold. I was able to stay focused but needed breaks due to the delivery. It felt like I was sitting in a lecture with a 70year old professor at times. I would prefer someone a bit younger to deliver it. If you’re looking for a quick and cheery self help book, this isn’t it. However this is a great book and I will recommend it to everyone. I’d recommend on audible as it can be quite heavy/ deep in parts and may be harder to read. I’d also recommend paper copy as you may want to sit/ ponder on certain parts also. If you have a boundary problem then I definitely recommend this book. 🤯

Deep down i know I’ve been an artist since forever but life has pushed the belief that only a select few are artists. Erwin relit the artisan fire in my soul and the best part about it is this belief is all based on the word of God💕 God is the creator. And we are made in His image. I 100% recommended this book to everyone⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️
