From his cage in a putrid, overcrowded Indian jail, Paul Jordan reflects on a life lived on the edge. His childhood, marred by the loss of his father and brother, produces a young man hell-bent on being the best of the best - an ambition he achieves by being selected to join the elite SAS. The Easy Day Was Yesterday is fast paced, brutally honest, raw and laced with dark humour. The core of Paul Jordan's eventful life, it shows the ability of the human spirit to survive even in the direst adversity.

This is the only money guide you'll ever need. That's a bold claim, given there are already thousands of finance books on the shelves. So what makes this one different? You'll get a step-by-step formula: open this account, then do this; call this person, and say this; invest money here and not there. All with a glass of wine in your hand.

I found his manner a little bit off-putting at first but I stuck with it and his advice is sound and his values are good he does however recommend investing in the biggest companies which don't always look after people and the environment but that would be my only criticism. He's like the rest of the world, make money first and do good later!

Jordan makes some compelling points based upon his learnings from his psychological practice, there are some real insightful comments and well reference examples. However he then goes on to express his opinion and beliefs as if they have the same factual validity. Devoting whole chapters to Bible stories and critical analysis of alternative ways of thinking... this book would benefit from a ruthless edit to remive all his endulgant, middle class, Christian rantings & leave just the empirical findings.

April 2004: Dan Mills and his platoon of snipers flew into Southern Iraq, part of an infantry battalion sent to win hearts and minds. They were soon fighting for their lives. Back home we were told they were peacekeeping. But there was no peace to keep. Because within days of arriving in theatre, Mills and his men were caught up in the longest, most sustained firefight British troops had faced for over 50 years.
