Hard to go past my longest favourite author. She spins a beautiful tale, fact and fiction, romance and political commentary. The narrator brought the story and characters to life just as I imagined they would be. It is many years since I first read the book, it has stayed on my shelf waiting to be re-read, but it is so good to keep busy and enjoy the story at the same time.

Always good to have a novel where all the women are strong characters. The story got me completely hooked and I finished it in a couple of days. The narrator did the different voices well.

This us one of the best books so far. I am liking the new characters introduced in the last two books. Flawed, but they never give up.

Alway enjoy Nigel Planner rading these books, ok so the audio is not as good as one recently recorded, the great voices make up for it.

This story hit the spot for me. I needed something to immerse myself in, but with no weird names and details that made listening a chore. This was it - likable flawed characters who were redeemable. Yes and I am a Firefly fan, so I did imagine the star ship looked the same, but the characters were there own selves.

While I did take a little while to get started into this new world, I am now fully hooked and looking forward to the next book. Good characters, a imperfect male lead character and a strong woman who doesn't need to be saved.

These stories just get better all the time. I like how the strength of the characters builds and even those who you would thing the worst to begin with turn out to be much better.

I like the main characters. I also like that there are many strong female roles. I look forward to the rest of the books by this author.
Narrator's accent initially put me off, but then grew on me.

I am not sure if I dragged out finishing this book because I was sad to leave the characters or because there were a few slow bits. But it was still a great story and I am so pleased to have found Ian Irving, because there are lots more books to read. I like that none of the characters are perfect and those that seem the most flawed by usual heroic measure turn out to do the great deeds.
