The narration was superb as usual (Tam Dean Burn) and Irvine Welsh continued to entertain and inspire me with the old Leith crew. Nothing short of superb Irvine, you are a master

The woman who narrates the story seemed to have mastered the West Country accent marvellously but its story, slang and general context is meant for a Celtic setting, and should use Scottish or Irish accents. Whoever told her to interpret the story as West Country needs shooting, it’s sounds really bad and undermines the direction of a fantastic story. David Gemmell is by far my favourite author and I’m from the West Country and the use of this accent is appalling for this story, I’ll be horrified if they’ve allowed her to do it all the way through the Rigante series! Oh GOD I hope not!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes but I would warn them that the start and first 1/3 is disappointing and takes an age to understand what is happening or who people are

Would you be willing to try another book from Brandon Sanderson? Why or why not?

Yes but his starts and introductions to a fantasy world sucks ass

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The start was virtually incomprehensible and needed a foreword or some sort of narration summary to help the reader understand what was happening. Too long a book to get into and I almost gave up.

Do you think The Way of Kings needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes as the story isn't finished.

Any additional comments?

The author is actually a decent storyteller once you get passed the first 1/3 of the book. Plenty of incomprehensible and unnecessary foundation storytelling could have been summarised or have a narrative to help the reader not waste time trying to guess at the authors intent. It really nearly made me give up on the book before I'd got through 1/4 of the 45 + hour epic.

If you could sum up SpecOps in three words, what would they be?

Comedic exciting Scifi

Who was your favorite character and why?

Skippy the Magnificent

What does R.C. Bray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Comedic timing and vocal context

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

This author has the humour and scientific and Scifi imagination to keep me glued to the story. If it's polite to make a comparison, Craig Alanson is to the Scifi world what Joe Abercrombie is to fantasy. Great storytelling with fantastic humour to engage the reader.

Decent writing but the story can jump in places. Maybe a slightly dumbed down version of Tom Clancy but still a nice read. Likeable narration but probably better as a film script for the upcoming film.

Irvine Welsh never fails to amaze me. This novel really captures some very female perspectives which for a male writer is genius. Also just as you think you know where these characters are heading in their downward chaotic spiral, the ending still has the ability to surprise you. Classic Welsh.
