There are some interesting characters in this book but overall it was a bit drawn out. Some of the plot twists were quite obvious too. I also found the narrator's voice a bit annoying, like really whispery a lot of the time. Having said that I did end up finishing all 16 hours of it and it tied things together nicely at the end so overall 3+ stars.

Story
Ailsa Rae is learning how to live. She's only a few months past the heart transplant that - just in time - saved her life. Life should be a joyful adventure. But.... Her relationship with her mother is at breaking point, and she wants to find her father. Have her friends left her behind? She's felt so helpless for so long that she's let polls on her blog make her decisions for her. She barely knows where to start on her own. Then there's Lennox. Her best friend and onetime lover. He was sick too. He didn't make it. And now she's supposed to face all of this without him. But her new heart is a bold heart. She just needs to learn to listen to it....

Overall I enjoyed this story about a young woman who is the recipient of a heart transplant. The author has a lovely style of prose, although I found the pace a little slow at times. The way it is partly written through her blog is a nice framework for part of the story. The narrator does a great job too.

The slap you in your face, stop you in your tracks, colour run from your face moment that changed everything. Six speakers from across the globe unravel the moment that redefined how they perceive themselves and how they view the world – put together with arresting sound design. These aren't stories of individuals making decisions that inadvertently changed the course of their lives. These are completely unexpected, shake-you-awake moments of radical realisation. Story
The Boy lives in a cottage with his mother and father, and the Dragon lives in a cave on the Downs. The Boy is his only friend. The Dragon is not at all the sort of Dragon one might expect to meet, however: he's polite and friendly.

This children's story is quite short (less than an hour) and written in a heart warming and entertaining way. I love the new take on St George and the dragon. :)

Story
Connell and Marianne grow up in the same small town in rural Ireland. The similarities end there; they are from very different worlds. When they both earn places at Trinity College in Dublin, a connection that has grown between them lasts long into the following years. This is an exquisite love story about how a person can change another person's life - a simple yet profound realisation that unfolds beautifully over the course of the novel. It tells us how difficult it is to talk about how we feel and it tells us - blazingly - about cycles of domination, legitimacy and privilege.

A beautiful, poignant story

Beautifully written, and thoughtfully narrated. Not a fast paced, action packed sort of book, but the two main characters are brought to life in an incredibly rich and insightful way. A bit of a love story, a bit of a coming of age, and a bit of something else too.
