The story was disappointingly flat, anticlimactic and I thought made too many scientific hand-wavy assumptions or implausible technologies. It pulled me out of the story.

The parts that Cixin wrote about the Chinese revolution were very compelling and I felt this was where his heart truly lay in this novel.

The story is sweeping, yet limited to only a handful of key characters which is helpful if you're an intermittent reader or forgetful.

On to the next bobiverse book for me. Fun listening, I accept the occasional campiness.

Some really memorable moments. I liked the concept of galaxy wide civilisations obeying time dilation.

Le Guin is a linguistic master, many great lines in this book. Average narration however.
