I really like Ben and listen to his podcasts all the time. His way of putting ideas and concepts together makes him a joy to listen to. However this book missed the mark for me. He sets the scene well with stats during the intro but fails to capitalise in the following chapters. Rather than answering the questions he raised, it felt like a pure history lesson. So quite difficult to follow. The final two chapters made a lot more sense when it was post WW1 and WW2 and cross reference to the modern political landscape that I was able to relate to. If I had a history major it may have been more palatable. Having said that, it is easy to recognise that he is a person of such high intellect.

I'm a fan of Frank Turek and wish he narrated the book instead. It sounded like a voice over from a 1980's thriller movie which was a little distracting.

Such riveting material! I saw the length of the audio and figured I'll go through it in about a week....I knocked it out in two days. I seriously couldn't put it down.

Too much information to summarise

I found it difficult to contextualise the summary points so ended up buying a hardcopy. There are a lot of powerful illustrations in the book that make the points more concrete and meaningful. You miss that here unfortunately
