This is an audiobook about everything you were never taught at school. It's about how to understand your emotions, find and sustain love, succeed in your career, fail well and overcome shame and guilt. It's also about letting go of the myth of a perfect life in order to achieve genuine emotional maturity. Written in a hugely accessible, warm and humane style, The School of Life is the ultimate guide to the emotionally fulfilled lives we all long for - and deserve.

What an amazing, amusing and must read book. Thank you Allain for letting me know that my silliness, craziness and strangeness is, in fact, ok and very normal. I feel whole for the first time in a long time. I highly recommend this book for its wonderful insights into normal human behaviour - the why’s and how’s - that, until now, I thought was shameful and broken.

Story
The golden skies, the translucent twilight, the white nights all hold the promise of youth, of love, of eternal renewal. The war has not yet touched this city of fallen grandeur or the lives of two sisters, Tatiana and Dasha Metanova, who share a single room in a cramped apartment with their brother and parents. Their world is turned upside down when Hitler's armies attack Russia and begin their unstoppable blitz to Leningrad.

A very enjoyable story. Very satisfying. After listening to Davina Porters ‘Jamie’ the accent in this audiobook is not quite right but after a while the story drew me in and no longer concerned me. I love Lord John, his accent is perfect.

Laura Tingle has written a very interesting and timely piece. I enjoyed it immensely except for one criticism... I found the readers accent to be completely wrong for 1) an Aust political essay and 2) so unlike Laura Tingles true Aust accent. I found the english??? accent of Deidre Rubenstein off putting and initially hard to concentrate on the storyline.

After a decade-long addiction to crack cocaine and alcohol, Charlie Engle hit bottom with a near-fatal six-day binge that ended in a hail of bullets. As Engle got sober, he turned to running, which became his lifeline, his pastime, and his salvation. He began with marathons, and when marathons weren't far enough, he began to take on ultramarathons, races that went for 35, 50, and sometimes hundreds of miles, traveling to some of the most unforgiving places on earth to race.

This book is amazing. I have consumed it in a day and plan to go back to the start immediately to listen again. People who achieve what Charlie has achieved are alien to me -the way they think - and its a real pleasure to enter Charlie’s crazy internal world, if only for a few hours. Do yourself a favour and buy this one.
