The Happiest Refugee
- By: Anh Do
- Narrated by: Anh Do
- Length: 6 hrs and 31 mins
The laugh-out-loud, reach-for-your-hanky story of one of Australia's best-loved comedians. Anh Do nearly didn't make it to Australia. His entire family came close to losing their lives on the sea as they escaped from war-torn Vietnam in an overcrowded boat. But nothing - not murderous pirates nor the imminent threat of death by hunger, disease or dehydration as they drifted for days - could quench their desire to make a better life in a country where freedom existed.

I left Australia 20 years ago and so didn't know too much about Anh Do. This is a wonderful story, wonderfully told. I laughed and cried and laughed and cried again. Anh lets us into his family and you can just feel the immense love coming off the pages that this man has for each and every person. Loved every minute.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. I loved the characters and the story of three strong young women.
What didn’t you like about Kristin Watson Heintz’s performance?
The voices for the different characters really annoyed me. I thought they were very whiney. Fortunately the story made up for the horrible voice. Sorry :(
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I looked forward to the next sitting. I listen in my car on my 1 hour commute.
