I had been waiting with great expectations for the next Sara Ljnton/Will Trent novel by Karin Slaughter and unfortunately it was not worth the wait. It is a hackneyed, cliched overblown novel with the main characters more resembling caricatures. It seemed as if the author was just trying a bit too hard. There was way too much bad language, to the point of seeming contrived. The storyline was predictable and there were no stunning twists or turns. And the narrator was truly atrocious with her over the top accent and dreadful character voices. Overall a definite waste of 17 hours of my life.

It takes a lot to make me cry, but this book did it several times. It is not just a touching story, but the language and prose is magnificent. It conjures images so vibrant that you are totally immersed in Kya's world. What a joy it was to listen to this magnificent book.

Brilliant book, Elton John has lived a totally amazing life and he writes so well. He is funny, engaging, self-deprecating and fascinating. Taron Edgerton is a great narrator, and the fact that he plays Elton in the biopic movie Rocketman makes his narration even more special . A really great book to listen to.

I listen to LOTS of this kind of story and this has been one of the best. Great story , lots of red herrings and plot twists. Very enjoyable with excellent narration.

I have listened to all of Marian Keyes' books and was very excited when I saw this 'new' title pop up. Although it was recorded in 2019, the book was published in 1997. Basically, it's terrible. It is long, painful and poorly written. The main character is intensely annoying, with a breathtakingly huge lack of self awareness. The other characters are either lacklustre or just hard to like. It is totally cliched and predictable, with the outcome of the story obvious within the first few minutes. The narrator was average, and her Australian accent for one of the characters was woefully bad. I only continued to listen to this book as I am stubborn and bloody minded. When it finished, I actually exclaimed 'thank God it's over'. I really hope that Marian Keyes ' 2020 book, Grown Ups, is back to her usual high standard.

I was so excited to finally get my hands on the sequel to The Handmaids Tale. And initially, The Testaments was promising. The Aunt Lydia backstory was intriguing and learning a bit more about the foundation of Gilead was great. But I'm sad to say that the second half of the book really was awful. It was cliched, predictable, sentimental and ultimately unbelievable. I won't say any more should I spoil it for those who wish to listen, but be warned, it's as though Atwood was just churning out very sub standard pulp fiction in order to please the masses.

This book is amazing. It made me laugh, cry, think, cry some more, question and immerse myself in another world. Clare Macintosh is a hugely talented author who keeps you totally engrossed in the lives of her characters. A day after finishing this book I'm still thinking about it. I wish I could give this book more than five stars.

I have been waiting for ages for the next book in this series and it totally was worth the wait. Listened to all 17 hours within 3 days. Just sad now that I'll have to wait for (hopefully) another installment in the Sarah Linton/Will Trent saga.

Good performance by the voice actors but I had the storyline sussed out pretty early on. Just a bit too easy to see where the story was going .
