It’s not that the concept of ‘women being caged by this world’ is new, but this book offers ways of becoming untamed that are. Well, new to me & wonderful.
Besides this, I love Glennon’s writing. Or maybe more precisely her thinking, & she’s great at putting her thoughts into words.
This book was revelatory in parts and yet it felt like I was hearing age-old wisdom I have always known. I was sad for it to finish but now I’m excited to see my wilderness expand♥️

I loved this book. When I was only about a third of the way through, I had to stop & check the chapters to see how much there was to go because I felt like I’d almost had a books worth already and was worried it would end soon! Thank goodness there was loads more to come.

Nostalgic for me because I grew up in the same time, the 80’s. But even though I was in Melbourne, not Brisbane, I still felt very immersed in the neighborhoods & a lot felt familiar.

Beyond nostalgia, this book has a great story. A ripping tale with fear, suspense, longing, heartache, unusual friendships, sibling connection & humour amidst a very bleak landscape.

I absolutely loved this book! The interweaving of Myth & Fiction was fabulous & I found the portrayal of Gods fascinating. The appalled me!

The only criticism I have is that I would’ve liked more differentiation in the different character’s voices. The lack of this sometimes made it hard to follow.

Apart from that I loved it! 9 out of 10

I’d like to say this book is equally full of love as it is darkness but I think it’s a little more dark.

Really loved it even though sometimes it’s hard going. Only criticism - sometimes it moves a bit too slowly. The intricate details are wonderful & similes original & poetic but just occasionally there’s too much & I found myself thinking, “Get on with it!” - in Emmet Famers voice😆

The plot of this story is quite gripping but I found the dialogue to expositional too often, & sometimes not believable or life-like enough. I could sense the ‘writing’ in it too much instead of being engrossed in the story. Some parts of the writing, especially dialogue, felt a little clichéd. I enjoyed the performance mostly but would have loved a bit more differentiation in voices.

I found this story fascinating but felt the production left me frustrated & wanting to know more & for what happened to be explained more clearly.

It felt a bit rushed or slapdash. It was unsatisfying in terms of explaining the final day & how the mass murder/‘suicide’ really eventuated.
