i can't really rate the story because the narrator was too awful for me to continue listening.

an older lead character would've been better

as much as i enjoyed the story..i just couldn't get my head around the 16 year old street kid becoming a pirate captain and getting the other captains to follow him in just a few months. just a bit too unreal. maybe a trilogy following his life and rise through the ranks would've suited better and made this a whole lot better. And the mention of his brother every other sentence was way too much...we got the gist of that pretty quickly so there was no need to fill in gaps with his brothers story. this story just reeked of a 16 year okd boy in his bedroom writting out his fantasy.

as much as i adore Joe Abercrombie i found this story seemed to be dragged out a bit too much...the end was predictable. i feel if it wasn't for the outstanding narration by Steven Pacey this book would've been a bit of a let down.

i absolutely loved this! i wasn't really expecting it to be anywhere near the quality of Pillars but im happy to be wrong. John lee is brilliant as the narrator and helped the reader really get into the story. it's nice to know how Kingsbridge came to be 🥰

i love the team of Grieg and Sean and i really enjoyed this story...unbelievable but terrifyingly real! my only issue is (and please don't hate on me) i found Sean's narrative to be quite boreing...i love Sean..he was the first narrator i listened to but there just wasn't enough "oomph" for this book. i am really looking forward to the second book though 😁

well...that was enjoyable but also predictable. Neds sisters seriously need a good thrashing...i really couldn't stand either of them. in the end I was rooting for Joan! is there a book 3? lots of loose ends to be tied up

what an epic ending! thank Mithros for that final chapter...I'm so glad i was talked into listening to that first book after my initial misgivings over this narrator..the whole series was brilliant. and that ending leaves room for at least 1 more book (hint hint Mr Kane😘)

a good follow up book

as much as i enjoyed this second book i must admit to absolutely hateing Fabiola....i guess she is a stunning woman as Ben used every opportunity to invoke her beauty...it seems everytime her storyline came into it her beauty was extolled. yeah yeah we get it the whore is a beauty 😒 the rest of the story was thoroughly enjoyable...Romulus is growing into a fine character that im really enjoying. parts of this storyline tore my heart out though :(

i thoroughly enjoyed this...the only way it could be better is a different choice of narrator..Pbillip did a great job nut I think this story requires a harder voice. Eagerly awaiting the next book to be released on audible..
