It is sad that novels are no longer just for entertainment but agenda based. I really enjoyed the story until it became political.

Hmm.

The story was good overall, what you would expect in a crime story but after reading this, the 3rd of 3 in the series so far I have to say that I don't like Claire. The authors attempt to make her a "strong independent modern married working mother" actually(in my opinion) makes her unlikeable. Her marriage is irrelevant, her child an apparently loved inconveance and her job is number 1. Not enough work is done in the storyline on Claire's attempts at harmony on the home front to make her a likeable and decent person. Maybe she's not meant to be? It's hard to keep following a series where I just don't like the main character.

A weak story line. The characters lack integrity. The book is blatantly anti family and anti Christianity. These kinds of books are depressing in their obvious agendas rather than an entertaining read. The readers Australian accent was pretty poor more of a Kiwi crossed with a Springbok.

Lovely easy listen. Not too much over the top descriptive sex scenes. A Fanciful break from reality.

This story is very under done. Too many unfinished characters, Marjorie, Ned, Stevie, Winter, Flora. Even the story is so unsatisfyingly unfinished. what happened between Winter and William? What happened between William and Claire? I SO hate this kind of story which has so much potential yet falls SO flat.

If this story was going somewhere it didn't get there. It feels unfinished and I'm so tired of all the "life is shit and then you die" stories flooding the market these days.

I really struggled to keep going and couldn't finish. So disappointing when I have truly enjoyed the earthy realism of Monica McInerny's other works. The story line was thin. The main character was a superficial bore. Melissa Eccleston's Irish and American accents were awful. Give me Ulli Birve any day. Sorry, this one seemed like a rush job to me.

This book could have been great. Unfortunately it was predictable and clichè and the characters had no depth so became boring.
