Story
Connell and Marianne grow up in the same small town in rural Ireland. The similarities end there; they are from very different worlds. When they both earn places at Trinity College in Dublin, a connection that has grown between them lasts long into the following years. This is an exquisite love story about how a person can change another person's life - a simple yet profound realisation that unfolds beautifully over the course of the novel. It tells us how difficult it is to talk about how we feel and it tells us - blazingly - about cycles of domination, legitimacy and privilege.

Engaging and raw

Really liked the way this story crafted and woven between the present moment and each characters memories. It felt like being inside their minds, following one thought to the next in that non-linear way our minds often jump. The romance is all the more powerful because it's almost anti-hollywood in how it's conveyed. Not a fairytale or exaggeratedly broken - just honest and realistic. Great listen!

The humour and vibrant narration really brought these characters to life. I couldn't wait to hear what would happen next, every turn was exciting and fresh. Clever clever storytelling and some emotiobally poignant moments that will stay with me.

This story will stay with you for a long time

Everything is so visceral and detailed, the sublimity of nature so well captured. When I had to pause and go about my day to day, I walked around with this anxious pit in my stomach, distracted, itching to know more. It takes craft to reel someone in like that. Carl Prekopp's voice had these subtle shifts that brought each character to life so clearly. It was a pleasure to listen for 15 hours. After the story was over, I went back and relistened to my favourite parts, to immerse in those moments. I haven't felt so strongly about a book in years and I'm so glad I found it. Some books touch you, change you, and this one did that for me.

Story
This darkly romantic story features our heroine, Nora Grey, a seemingly normal teenage girl with her own shadowy connection to the Nephilim, and super-alluring bad boy, Patch, now her deskmate in biology class. Together they find themselves at the centre of a centuries-old feud between a fallen angel and a Nephilim. Forced to sit next to Patch in science class, Nora attempts to resist his flirting, though she gradually falls for him against her better judgment.

At times I scoffed, at times I couldn't help but smile. But I spent the most time marvelling over the perfectly hideous Irish accent. Very entertaining.

Story
Persuasion, Jane Austen's last novel, is a tale of love and marriage told with irony and insight. Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth have met and seperated years before. Their reunion, after the passage or irrecoverable years of their youth, forces a recognition of the false values that drove them apart.
