Story
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

It seems Robert Dugoni can write successfully any genre and that is why he is one of my favourite authors

Story
Lucy Sullivan is 26 and living it up (and occasionally down) in London. Hers is a life of quiet, undisciplined desperation. But when she and three friends visit a psychic for a bit of fun and the woman's predictions start coming true, Lucy is horrified. For the fortune-teller insisted she'd soon be married - within the year, in fact. Not only does Lucy not have a boyfriend, but the chances of getting one are looking slim. Between the bottles of wine, antidepressants and her addiction to self-help books, she's not quite ready to walk, or even stumble, down the aisle sober.

Lucy Sullivan and Co are a group of people I NEVER EVER EVER want to have in my life! Lucy is a f***ing door mat half the time and allows people to treat her total crap, then the other half of the time she treats people equally as bad. This was not an enjoyable world to enter. At least 300 pages can be cut from this book giving you the exact same reading experience, in face if it was 300 pages less I probably would have enjoyed it more.

So disappointing
Reviewed: 11-07-2020
I love Otis Redding. He fills my soul on dull days, One of his songs was our first dance at our wedding, even my 3 year old can recognise his music when it's playing in the house... So the reason for this one star rating is because this book has VERY LITTLE about Otis and more about every other Tom, Dick & Harry I absolutely do not care about. This is more about the evolution of America in the driest history lecture you have ever come across.
