5 Completely different stories took me to different space and time, yet so brilliantly woven together to ponder on the essence of life itself.

Got this because I was so impressed by Hyperion and his other books. However, I find this one not even comparable to the others. flat story line with a number of twists that don't make sense. Some parts are kinda thrilling but never breathtaking... perhaps my expectations were too high after Hyperion Cantos

Holy %$#@ what a read!

Disappointed compared to the previous two. I feel he message he tried to deliver was too... what should I say... shallow? over used? Anyway it's a disappointment to find out all that building up was to find the ultimate message from a super powerful alien race - the universe will eventually collapse..dont we already know that?? Also certain logics I can't follow ... "We must stop them from reaching Poseidon otherwise the entire human race is doomed! oh fuck it who cares lets just go". What happened to the sabotage plan? what happened to the "judgement of the entire race"? And every person in the book has supremely high morale standard it's annoying... Also character building was poor too, except Eunice. The protagonist Gomma simply rages at every single thing that's all. overall I feel the story was not well thought through, the ending and message was weak. Definitely lower than his usual standard. Awesome performance of the reader though!

His writing just gets better and better... The story line, characters and the world constructed are all excellent. As always, it starts slow and confusing but once I got into it I just could not stop...

The reader is pure awesomeness in her ability to perform so many different accents and personalities... One of the best I have heard so far.

I'm generally very picky, but this one I highly highly recommend!

Simply one of the best! Great story, fascinating worlds and philosophy. I find Reynolds' writing gets better and better... inspiringly so. it's not just the hard sci-fi style anymore but also mixed in with greater level of character building, pondering of philosophy questions and elegant literature on its own... Reader's performance is absolutely stunning. The last book I was completely satisfied with was Hyperion Cantos and I have been searching for a book like this for long... highly recommend!

Would you try another book written by Stephen Moss or narrated by R. C. Bray?

no

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

make it more real

If this book were a film would you go see it?

no

Any additional comments?

Author got smart ideas but some character building was not even logical... Sure, people like the idea of cinderella, an unknown middle aged scholar suddenly became the leader of the whole global operation but how that happened just really doesn't make sense. Then independence? really?.... I enjoyed the first book but really disappointed with the 2nd and how the story turned into.
