Story
Winner of the British Book Awards, Author of the Year and Book of the Year, 2008.
Shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, 2007.
Shortlisted for the Audiobook Download of the Year, 2007.
It is June 1962. In a hotel on the Dorset coast, overlooking Chesil Beach, Edward and Florence, just married that morning, are sitting down to dinner in their room. Neither is entirely able to suppress anxieties about the wedding night to come. On Chesil Beach is another masterwork from Ian McEwan - a story about how the entire course of a life can be changed by a gesture not made or a word not spoken.

A Long Time Building a Story That Went Nowhere
Reviewed: 13-09-2018
I didn't enjoy this book. The author spent most of the short book trying to build a story around a failed honeymoon night and relationship and ended the story in a couple of pages. Reading this book was like eating a bowl of delicious ice cream, without the ice cream.

A great insight of a man's career & Intelligence
Reviewed: 19-06-2018
A riveting account of a man who served his country for all of his adult life in military intelligence and government intelligence agencies. A read of old times and new times, old challenges and new, and then Donald Trump. It's well worth your dime!

Overall I am glad I 'read' this book, I did appreciate her insight into the election but the journey there was at times long, sometimes off track and a bit boring. I think the book could of been re-tittled, "I love Bill and Chelsea and ran for President." 3 Stars.

Seems an Honest Account of a Dedicated Career.
Reviewed: 06-05-2018
A great read from what seems to be an honest account of this man's career in public service. Ultimately did he make the right decisions regarding Hillary, I think that is wholly subjective and to the readers own opinion. Love him or hate him, he put in the hard yards for his country and he did face extraordinary pressures. Read the book, judge for yourself.
