Story
Whenever cousins Jake and Marisol get together, adventure follows. They have their late Nana to thank for that. Her epic trips and treasure hunts were the stuff of family legend. This summer, with the whole family reuniting for one last vacation at Nana's home, the cousins are in for a legendary trip of their own. Following a map Nana left behind, Jake and Marisol sneak out to a nearby lighthouse - then accidentally slip into another world... The World Between Blinks is a magical place, where all kinds of lost things (and people!) end up.

A great story. I have been a teacher for many years, and am so glad to realise that Ryan Graudin and Amie Kaufman have come up with an adventure story to match the books I read as a child. Adventure, imagination, exploration, history both real and fantastical. All here, and wonderfully narrated by Kyla Garcia. A great book for kids, enjoyable for adults too! Highly enjoyable. Muy bien.

Story
Dark Emu argues for a reconsideration of the 'hunter-gatherer' tag for pre-colonial Aboriginal Australians and attempts to rebut the colonial myths that have worked to justify dispossession. Accomplished author Bruce Pascoe provides compelling evidence from the diaries of early explorers that suggests that systems of food production and land management have been understated in modern retellings of Aboriginal history, and that a new look at Australia's past is required.

Kevin Hearne is doing something wonderful with these stories. Weaving together multiple voices from diverse characters in true bardic story telling fashion. It took me a little while to get into the first audiobook, but it is so worth persisting, and sorting out who is who. The voice actors are wonderful, bringing the tales to life. It is truly an epic tale, taking different perspectives and showing how people can be brought together, to understand each other, and change their world for the better. I can't wait for the third book. Highly highly recommend this series.

Story
The hilarious, heartbreaking novel by the author of the international best seller A Man Called Ove. Granny has been telling fairy tales for as long as Elsa can remember. In the beginning they were only to make Elsa go to sleep, to get her to practise Granny's secret language, and a little because Granny is just about as nutty as a granny should be. But lately the stories have another dimension as well. Something Elsa can't quite put her finger on....
