I’m not sure if it was the poor writing or the narrator but there was way to many ‘ugh’ and ‘ack’ in the book for my liking. I have never heard of anyone saying that nor have I ever thought it. The story line went from a post apocalyptic tale to a serial killer to some sort of ninja - extremely weird.

After 10 books I am still here. I have gone from thinking this author hates women to knowing she hates everyone. However, her writing is well done and her character development is actually quite good. She takes it too far on so many levels and you know that these people would not function in everyday life but in an apocalypse they thrive

I started the first of this series feeling disappointed over the fact that he seems to hate women. I have never been a feminist nor a women’s rights activist. However, this author has a weird obsession with sex scenes and relationships where Nate is domineering and over the top. Despite this it got better. The main male character still dominates the female lead and the female lead is always struggling with her ability to be strong etc... it’s a walking cliche. The only other strong female lead is a short haired soldier who is more manly than most. They do try to insinuatetht the fact she has feelings adds to the group but it lacks depth. The main characters are infected and they try to use this as an excuse for the lack of depth to characters. But I love me a zombie novel and have listened to worse

Despite the authors obsession with a male domineering a women it isn’t bad. The first book was very focused on Nate taking advantage of her and manipulating her. I promise it gets better. It’s like the writer felt they had to compete with 50 shades of grey or something. But their character development got better. The second book is the best out of 1-3 so far because Nates not that much of a dick in it. I’m in for the series because I have nothing better to listen too

This novel had promise with a strong female lead. Unfortunately she spent most her time self absorbed and vapid. She would have been just as much at home in the baby sitters club as in this book. Take away the shot gun and there is no different. Would have preferred to have the story told from cliffs point of view. The author was slightly obsessed by rape and through the talk or thinking about it into every chapter.

Differs from the normal apocalyptic books because it doesn't have gore or rape. It has a realistic survival story

Whilst this author has an issue of killing off who we love she builds relationships with the characters that actually inspire us to care. I mourned the death of Kate and Micah but was excites over the birth of Gracie and Eric finding Cassie. She made me fall for her characters and root for them, wish them dead or hope they escape. Brother David was devastating though. An amazing author who connects you to her characters and make you feel like you know them.

Love the series! Hate the fact it ended where it did and so quick. Gunny should definitely be the focus. Jesse is becoming whiny. Love the fact you call the suggestions from fans gross when so much in the book made my stomach turn! Would prefer zombie jerky to children being flayed and their faces worn. The writing was great and the characters surprisingly realistic. Can’t wait for the next book!
