Writers really finding the right mix of both styles and just a action packed book. This has provided dozens of plot lines in my head, so can only hope the writers have agreed on one to continue...

As a crumbling Galactic Republic falls to the relentless assault of a merciless foe, so begins the rise of an enigmatic emperor intent on saving a corrupt galaxy-spanning civilization from itself…and from something much darker that lies beyond the reaches of the known. Just as the reins of power fall into his iron-fisted grasp, an assassination attempt by a hidden cabal within his own inner circle jeopardizes every plan he has set in motion for his Dark Legion, his Imperial Navy, and his ultimate conquest of the stars. But the assassins have no idea who they're actually dealing with.

I prefer a full story with enogh questions left for next book. This story finished half way through leaving too many unanswered questions, with some sections left in complete limbo. I understand need to leave wanting more, this has left me wondering wtf? But I'll get rhe next book, but might wait for when on sale now

Not what I expected from the summary, but thoroughly enjoyed the book. It's subtle jumps kept the interest high, and the stories intertwined nicely. Will definitely read again.

Story
Legion Dark Ops calls upon Chhun, Wraith, and the survivors of Victory Company to form an elite Kill Team of legionnaires in the aftermath of the Battle of Kublar. Their mission is clear: find and eliminate those responsible for the Kublar disaster. Standing between them and their objective are a maze of corrupt Republic officials, a spy on the verge of losing himself in deep cover, and the Zhee - a murderous species that will stop at nothing. But the biggest threat of all might be the truth they seek to uncover - a truth that could ignite a revolution. And engulf the galaxy in flames.

Good, alright then long

Having enjoyed the part I, I looked forward to part II, and it started very nicely answering some previous queries and setting up the series further. The middle section didn't resonate with me though, specifically Tom, was it Tom, I think it was Tom, yes, it was Tom. The third part of part II just jumped to much for my liking. I think reading this section would have been more enjoyable as I got lost with which side was which and who was on those sides. No fault of RC Bray who did his usual top notch job. All in all, I will await part III as still involved in the story.

Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.
