Jane Caro’s work is well-known to me & I’ve heard her speak at Newcastle Writers Festival in 2019. This book was the basis of her talk. As an Australian woman a few years older than Jane, I learned more about our social, financial & educational limits faced by women. Jane’s narration of her words made the book even more compelling. Thank you Jane Caro for raising so much about inequities & the rate of change (far too slow) needed for, especially older women, to have a comfortable & stress free retirement.

I am someone who is close to 70 and although this book was US-centric and I am an Australian there were relevant situations covered. Helpful.I did not learn much new other than we are all connected!

An amazing compilation of courage, sadness, loss of life but also of how we humans come together when we most need it. In the worst of time. Thank you for the author, researchers and narrators but mostly THANK you for those wo were not able to tell their stories and those who could. We must never forget 9/11 but at the same time we need to appreciate what we have now. An oral history of this magnitude took some doing and it kept me engaged the entire 15+hours - I did listen in shorter bursts though.

Thank you Mitchell Zuckoff. Amazingly, thoughtfully and told with respect to all who were part of the 9/11 story. We must always remember “life” and love one another.

Rick Morton is a modern day story teller with edge. He shares with brutal frankness his sexuality, poverty & living in the isolated regions of Australia & the battle of living with mental illness. That he chose to write is his gift to us all. He writes of the marginalised, the beauty of Australia & with unvarnished truth
his views of modern Australia & its politics.

Lori Gottlieb knows what she writes about & narration by Brittany Pressley captured the essence of Lori’s words.
This audiobook was enlightening for me as Lori wrote from both sides of therapy: being in it as a client & also as a therapist.
Told with good humour & examples of human behaviour I highly recommend it!

Thanks to Leigh Sales for both writing this book and reading it. It was made even more engaging by her starting with an "ordinary day of her own" and then finding out more about how we humans handle what can often be described as the worst that can happen to us. Many great people interviewed and their insights make it a powerful book.

In the era of diets and losing then gaining weight, everyone needs to know some of the facts I gleaned from this book. Yes I have been that dieter on and off too. We humans make up to 200 decisions a day relating to eating. So much about our eating 'habits' is mindLESS. A great start to understand the WHY of eating. Many good and helpful ideas later in the book. This was read by the author.
