I really enjoyed this one, it was fun to listen to and had just enough drama without going over the top The characters were very likeable and the friends also had just enough to them to spark my interest in their stories as well. The narrator was great too.

I found the narrator's American accent a little grating but it was overall entertaining and engaging, it wrapped up a bit quickly and easily however.

Heartbreaking, joyous, traumatic, intimate and revelatory, Reckoning is the book where Magda Szubanski, one of Australia’s most beloved performers, tells her story. In this extraordinary memoir, Magda describes her journey of self-discovery from a suburban childhood, haunted by the demons of her father’s espionage activities in wartime Poland and by her secret awareness of her sexuality, to the complex dramas of adulthood and her need to find out the truth about herself and her family.

What did you like most about Reckoning?
It's a fascinating insight into Magda, her family, the poles in WW II, her career all told with great warmth, humour and nearly all of her tv characters making cameos at some point or another, even if it's not intentional!
Which scene did you most enjoy?
Not so much a scene as the mimicry of her parents and friends, most particularly her parents, I've only seen the photos of them that are public but her voice made them into real people.
Any additional comments?
I've been a fan for ages and I don't know her at all personally but this book and her coming out story has made me really proud of her. Going to miss that voice on my dog walks.

How did the narrator detract from the book?
I didn't mind the narrator's natural speaking voice but her voices for the characters really grated and annoyed me.
Any additional comments?
It really feels like the author is just rehashing old fanfic stories (and I've read plenty of fanfic). For me the story was just too slow and boring and felt like it was following a trope.

Anna Kendrick's autobiographical collection of essays amusingly recounts memorable moments throughout her life, from her middle-class upbringing in New England to the blockbuster movies that have made her one of Hollywood's most popular actresses today. Expanding upon the witty and ironic dispatches for which she is known, Anna Kendrick's essays offer her one-of-a-kind commentary on the absurdities she's experienced on her way to and from the heart of pop culture.

Not the kind of book that is going to offer insights al la Tina Fey's or Amy Poehler's autobiographies but an entertaining and spirited look at the entertainment industry and at Anna. Once I got used to her rapid speech and accent I found her enjoyable to listen to and had a few laughs along the way. I was a casual fan before but this has made me more interested in her work.
