Good story set in Tassie
Reviewed: 21-01-2021
I was a bit disappointed but only because the other Jane Harper books were so good she has set a very high standard. The story is set in Tasmania which is very interesting and as usu she incl a lot of relationship and social situations. It is easy to relate to the characters and to care for them. I’ll listen to it again.

This is the whole story, right from the beginning: the sun-bleached streets, the grimy bars on the Sunset Strip, knowing Daisy’s moment was coming. Relive the euphoria of success and experience the terror that nothing will ever be as good again. Take the uppers so you can keep on believing, take the downers so you can sleep, eventually. Wonder who you are without the drugs or the music or the fans or the family that prop you up. Make decisions that will forever feel tough. Find beauty where you least expect it.

I loved this book. It was different from anything else I’ve listened to and I thought about the characters for a long time after the book was finished. I cared about them and I liked that each character had a different narrator.

Story
Joe Cashin was different once. He moved easily then; was surer and less thoughtful. But there are consequences when you’ve come so close to dying. For Cashin, they included a posting away from the world of Homicide to the quiet place on the coast where he grew up. Now all he has to do is play the country cop and walk the dogs. And sometimes think about how he was before. But then prominent local Charles Bourgoyne is bashed and left for dead....

Great audiobook

I really enjoyed this book and found it difficult to stop listening. The characters were very vivid which is a credit to the writer and the narrator. I’ll be looking for other novels by this author.
For those listeners that like a lighter novel this will not be for you, because there is a lot of swearing and the story involves a very dark subject.

The art of love is never a science.: Meet Don Tillman, a brilliant yet socially inept professor of genetics, who’s decided it’s time he found a wife. In the orderly, evidence-based manner with which Don approaches all things, he designs The Wife Project to find his perfect partner: a 16-page, scientifically valid survey to filter out the drinkers, the smokers, the late arrivers. Yet, Rosie Jarman possesses all these qualities and. Don easily disqualifies her as a suitable candidate (even if she is "quite intelligent for a barmaid").

Story
The laugh-out-loud, reach-for-your-hanky story of one of Australia's best-loved comedians. Anh Do nearly didn't make it to Australia. His entire family came close to losing their lives on the sea as they escaped from war-torn Vietnam in an overcrowded boat. But nothing - not murderous pirates nor the imminent threat of death by hunger, disease or dehydration as they drifted for days - could quench their desire to make a better life in a country where freedom existed.

I really enjoyed this talking book. It was written in an easy to listen to way. My husband and I would listen before our evening meal and try to appreciate the behind the scene workings of the Whitehouse. I wish Michelle and her family all the best for the future.
