Story
In this unnamed city, to be interesting is dangerous. Middle sister, our protagonist, is busy attempting to keep her mother from discovering her maybe-boyfriend and to keep everyone in the dark about her encounter with Milkman. But when first brother-in-law sniffs out her struggle, and rumours start to swell, middle sister becomes 'interesting'. The last thing she ever wanted to be. To be interesting is to be noticed and to be noticed is dangerous. Milkman is a tale of gossip and hearsay, silence and deliberate deafness. It is the story of inaction with enormous consequences.

wonderful. insightful and beautifully written. it's not that the book will make you cynically sceptical... just thoughtfully and critically sceptical.... loved the numerous examples given to provide evidence for claims.

Story
The Earth lies shaken in the aftermath of a conspiracy. Some of the smartest minds on the planet have striven for and died in an effort to scour the skies of four vast alien satellites, but their success has brought a terrible vengeance down upon us. While alien agents stalk the Earth, a team of exhausted scientists and military outcasts struggle to fight them among a planet on the brink - the brink of plague, the brink of war, and the brink of an invasion larger than they can possibly imagine. But they have allies.

Definitely the second book out of a trilogy

lacked the tension of first book. Disappointed so obviously a setup for finale. Lathe chunks were really quite dull with overlong descriptions of training procedures ...the final few chapters did move the story forward quite a bit but what preceded was thin on excitement. Not sure if I'll go for third in series.
