This was very slow to start and I thought I wasn't going to like it much. It did pick up and I started to like it when it got more into the witch side of things. The research is so well done with this book, all your favourite Greek Mythology heroes are included. It even linked back to Song of Achilles. I would love to see a book on Odysseus next.

To all authors: please see Neal Shusterman on how to write endings! What an epic ending to this fantastic series. it had everything. From the start it was engaging, having multiple timelines really worked with this book and having them revealed in the subtle changing of the animal/year between each section really kept me wondering about when everything was happening. There was so much destruction but also so many answers. The last few chapters really amped it up and I couldn't read fast enough. A great new beginnings out of the destruction of an ending.

The audio was so patchy it was very hard to listen to. One second you would have to turn it up because it was whisper quiet and the next it was screaming through the speakers where there was no change in dialog. The story itself was very dull. I always here how this is a progressive book for females of that time period and sure for 2 of them it was. While Jo and Amy bounded ahead and forged their own path Meg was going backwards in time. I do like the more in depth look we had into the relationships and I have come around on Amy and Laurie but other parts such as Jo and Fritz (a bit creepy and forced) and Meg and John (bland and really a bit problematic in parts) i didn't like as much. I do think that Jo and her thoughts on love and relationships could have led to her being Ace and I think her story would have been better not being led into a relationship. She even says that she would say yes to marriage because she is lonely not for love. All in all I wouldn't be bothered reading it again.

The story itself was great. Kind of a Little Mermaid vibe going on. The narrators did a great job too however there were large patches that were done over and didnt match the previous audio which took me out of the story a lot of the time.

It was great to be able to learn the back story for Jack and Jill. I would have loved to stay a bit longer and hear about some of the tasks Jack had to carry out though

2.5 stars for story. I didn't really feel like the story sucked you in and the narration didn't help. The narration was all in one voice and tone. I had a hard time following along with the change in characters and conversations and was often lost with who was speaking. It made the whole story run together and there was no part that stood out.

i really enjoyed the world of The Belles. The intrigue and plotting was very cool. The different take on magic was well done. I look forward to the next book.

The performance of this audiobook is amazing. All the sound effects bring the book to life. It really adds to the creepyness that should be felt at times and the desperation.
