Every now and again I indulge in YA fiction, and find it can be very formulaic - this one however left me guessing till the very end! And I had totally guessed wrong! well worth a listen

Anyone who has read The Girl With All the Gifts knows that M.R Carey can write. This story is a complete departure from the end of the world and 10 year old zombies, centred around a junkie named Jess who wakes from a coma to discover she has killed a 10 year old boy in a fire. Her face and all her memories have been destroyed in that fire, and she only begins to piece it together with the help of the dead boys ghost...

The worst audio experience I have ever had. 300 years of suffering, greed and destruction of the natural world, and mercilessly boring. Awful!!!

Prepare to be sucked in, bawl your eyes out and feel hollowed out by this incredible book. I have never loved any characters so much, the story ends perfectly and the narrator has some serious talent. Listen to this book!!!

If you loved The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, then you will completely adore this book. You can't help but fall in love with every character. I simply don't have words to explain how good it is. I have that bereft feeling you get when you finish a truly amazing story and may have to just start it again from the beginning!

If you are a fan of Enders Game, or just like a strong narrative drive, this book is for you. Be warned that it will make you anti social for about 12 hours as you tear through it
