I liked the historical element as it educated me about the source of trauma over time and explained the reasons why we have trauma and where it originated. The practical ideas make you feel that you can actually do something about trauma, both personal and collective trauma. The rememberings at the end of each chapter were helpful. I was fascinated by the three types of body trauma...white body, black body and police body trauma. This made so much sense and as a white body I could relate to Resmaa’s analysis...I could recognise my white supremacy and reflect on the impact it has on my life and the lives of others . I became a witness to my own behaviours and began to watch my body and my responses ..to check myself . I recommend this book to anyone who is open to changing the way we live on this planet as humans. Anyone who wants change and is prepared to be part of that change .

To have the author read the book to me was such a pleasure...I felt like I got to know Michelle Obama personally as I listened to her story . Highly recommend this book .
