If you are easily offended by the language of the streets, this may not be for you. However, if you are interested in how a man comes from circumstances that grinds the majority into dust, crime and anger and wins through to personal, public and financial reward, it will leave you smiling.

A compelling story and beautifully read! This is high seas adventuring indeed. Similiar to the O'Brian Aubrey stories as told from the lower deck.

The stories contain some I had never come across before! Mr. Fry gives a fascinating forward and masterul readings. Many are short stories, allowig you to break off, temporarily!

Interesting topic and historical vignettes. The authors passion and research clearly come through. My primary critique is there is a lot of repetition of information and a bit of a feeling that there is little to say in 13 hours. The book was well read and works best in short sessions to avoid the sameness of the chapters.
