I quite liked the main character. The story, at times, struggled to hold my attention, although that could have been influenced by the tellers limited variation between the characters voices, which made it hard to follow at times. It felt like whenever the story built to a possible peak it was fizzled out and whatever potential it had for satisfying justice was thwarted. The ending was disappointing.

This could have been a great book but as the story unraveled I found it to be neat and transparent. Some of the characters were annoying and came across too stupid to have gotten away with what they did for so long, and the way one in particular turns was unconvincing. It must be difficult to write a thriller and keep everyone guessing right to the end and unfortunately Silent Child didn’t do that.

In the beginning this book had promise, but the story jumped back and forward so that it became a little difficult to follow and sometimes a bit monotonous. Some of the voices bordered on disturbing.

A tough one to get into but compelling once the story is established. Graphically violent at times. An interesting insight into community and beliefs of the time. Overall it was enjoyable.

Good, believable readings and an enjoyable story. Thoroughly entertaining. Love that it was based on truth.
