I was really looking forward to this book after all the glowing reviews but I am seriously confused. All the book spoke about was stories about how the resilience project came about and how much it has helped people *INSERT: Sporting personality name drops* There wasn't any actually any 'how to' information at all!!! It only said that gratitude, empathy and mindfulness is important to happiness. The whole book was just the author patting himself softly on the back. I really truly don't understand how this 'changed people's lives'....

I am finding it hard to put my finger on why I didn't really enjoy this book. I guess maybe it was much vaguer than I expected. Maybe it was it is more of a recount and not much emotional input. It would have been nice to know how he was feeling in the situations through his life rather than just "this is what i did and I got a medal at the end".

There are very few books that I didn't want to end, but this is one of them. I loved the human portrayal of a therapist and I loved all the people in her sessions. Relatable to everyone at some stage in their lives. Highly recommended.

Too much of a boring recount.

I had high hopes for this book, but it was just so boring. It was one long list of what to do on Mars, half of which went over my head (I really don't care for how you would put solar panels on a roof - especially since over half of this book is a 'how to'). I can see how this would appeal to an engineer, but not a biologist (me). I am science-y, but this bored me to death. I kept listening to find out what happened, which was exactly as expected. I don't understand the high ratings. No character development; not as funny as everyone said; just boring journal entries. Not my cup of tea.

Nothing amazing.

I listened to this story in one go. It was ok. I found the characters somewhat interesting, if a little bland. The writing was good but the story was filled with cliches. So much so that the big 'twist' was seen a mile away because the set up was obvious. It feels like this was written for the screen in a typical Australian-drama-falling-short/nothing-new sort of way. The narrator was expressive and I easily could distinguish between the characters. Bonus: the story was free.

I LOVE Hobb, but this is awful!!! I gave up 1 hour from the end of the second book because I could not take any more. I absolutely love characters that develops over the story and dont mind slow paced but this book was excruciating. SLOW, REPETITIVE, such constant stupid angst and the main character is pathetic beyond empathy. Giving up. Never again.

Horrible acting... Fiona sounds like a whiny spoilt brat in every sentence. Couldnt finish the series. it was just too frustrating a story complete with cliches out the whazoo and wooden acting. such a pity. I had so many high hopes.

I found the character to be overindulgent and I struggled to relate - despite the familiarity of her situation.

I enjoyed listening to this book. It was well written but I didn't like how the author fawned over Sandra. I don't particularly think that she was a very nice person. I also think that given her traumatic past (I have one too), she does not cope and deal with it at all. She just avoids it. This is not bravery to me. It is avoidance. Imagine how lovely she would be if she actually processed what happened. But then again, maybe it is just me.

Huge fan of the movie. I was the perfect age when it was released. I have finally decided to give the book a go. It was as expected. Dinosaurs, action, heroes, villains etc. What a fun ride. Nothing serious. The only down side to this story is that the little girl wasn't eaten. It is kids like her that makes me thank god I am childless.
