Ambrose Young was beautiful. He was tall and muscular, with hair that touched his shoulders and eyes that burned right through you. The kind of beautiful that graced the covers of romance novels, and Fern Taylor would know. She'd been reading them since she was 13. But maybe because he was so beautiful he was never someone Fern thought she could have...until he wasn't beautiful anymore.

What made the experience of listening to Making Faces the most enjoyable?

This beautiful, heart tugging story was beautifully crafted and effortlessly kept my attention. I was astounded by how much empathy I felt for the characters in this audio book. I was very impressed with how Amy Harmon tied the story together and let the listener get insight into some of the less obvious characters, making this book a very realistic, satisfying experience.

What other book might you compare Making Faces to, and why?

Archers Voice by Mia Sheridan. This book was also filled with compassion and had a lovely gentle feel about it.

Have you listened to any of Rob Shapiro’s other performances? How does this one compare?

No I haven't but now he is on my radar. I thought his narration was very, very well done. His voice changes for each character were consistent and I was never confused about which character I was listening to at any stage throughout the entire audio book.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This audio book was an emotional roller coaster ride. Don't expect to listen to this story and not be affected by it.

Any additional comments?

A touching tale. Do yourself a favour and buy this audio book.

What made the experience of listening to The Hooker and the Hermit the most enjoyable?

Definitely the dialogue. There were many instances as I listened where the narrative was unexpected and caught me by surprise. I actually guffawed out loud at the sheer audacity of the language. This was by no means offensive as the rib tickling language fit the nature of the characters perfectly.

What did you like best about this story?

The very real characters. This was a wonderful collaboration where the nationalities of the authors shone through to ensure the repartee between the characters was completely believable.

What does George Allen and Lucy Rivers bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Oh that Irish accent! Swoon! The authenticity of the accents made the whole experience entirely captivating.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Colin Farrell eat your heart out. Here comes Ronan Fitzpatrick!

Any additional comments?

This is an amusing and ribald listening experience that will lighten your mood and put a spring in your step.I didn't want to turn it off and found every opportunity to put my ear buds in so I could travel to Dublin and New York in my mind.
