War heroes aren't usually called out of semi-retirement and sent to the far reaches of the galaxy for a routine investigation. So when Colonel Carl Butler answers the call from an old and powerful friend, he knows it's something big - and he's not being told the whole story. A high councilor's son has gone MIA out of Cappa Base, the space station orbiting a battle-ravaged planet. The young lieutenant had been wounded and evacuated - but there's no record of him having ever arrived at hospital command.

I enjoyed this, very original, the author has the beginnings of an interesting universe here, the ending seemed a bit abrupt thou. I hope a sequel is in the works!

Didn't think I was going to like this series, but I really really did, I couldn't put it down. I am however confused, I am a helicopter pilot, and have not crashed one yet, Not every Helo flight that's ever happened ended in a crash :)

United Nations Special Operations Command sent an elite expeditionary force of soldiers and pilots out on a simple recon mission, and somehow along the way they sparked an alien civil war. Now the not-at-all-merry band of pirates is in desperate trouble, again. Their stolen alien starship is falling apart, thousands of light years from home. The ancient alien AI they nicknamed Skippy is apparently dead, and even if they can by some miracle revive him, he might never be the same.

I love these guys, Craig Alanson has written another fantastic chapter in this saga and RC just nails the narration.

I will be checking daily for the next book.

Not sure why, but I loved this book. I am slowly working through all Alistair's books and so far this is my favorite.
