The year is 2575, and two megacorporations are at war over a planet that's little more than an ice-covered speck. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Ezra and Kady have to make their escape on the evacuating fleet. But their troubles are just beginning. A deadly plague has broken out on one of the spaceships and is mutating, with terrifying results. Their ship's protection is seriously flawed. No one will say what is going on.

First off, the narration by Greg Tremblay was impeccable. His use of voices and tone were fantastic and added to the story.

I’ve been a fan of Shusterman for a while, but this book was next level awesome. The story was engaging and interesting. Highly recommend!

The Moon will soon return. Whether this heralds the destruction of humankind or something worse will depend on two women. Essun has inherited the phenomenal power of Alabaster Tenring. With it, she hopes to find her daughter, Nassun, and forge a world in which every outcast child can grow up safe. For Nassun, her mother's mastery of the Obelisk Gate comes too late. She has seen the evil of the world and accepted what her mother won't: that sometimes what is corrupt cannot be cleansed, only destroyed.

This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

This book was incredible. Brutal. Intense. Fantastic. Funny at times.

At first I wasn’t sure, but after the first hour or so, I was hooked.

The narration was a little strange at first, but then the story explained why.

I’ve never read/listened to a book quite so captivating and weird and... wow before.

Some parts were so ugly and brutal that I had to take a break. My heart broke.

Just... do yourself a favour and get this book. Wow.

Where does Obernewtyn rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I got into these books a few years ago when they were recommended to me. I came to the party late, but boy was I not disappointed!

I pretty much compare all other books to this series.

Now I am determined to listen to the entire series even though I've read it all several times.

What about Isobelle Carmody’s performance did you like?

Hearing Isobelle Carmody read the words as she wrote them is something else. She brought a whole new vision to this book for me and it's fantastic.
