got hooked fast. i enjoyed the descriptions and the details. the style. the Australian vernaculars. the humour. the surprises. I just loved the book. I'll be looking out for more books from Chris Hammer. the narrator was excellent.

we love John's stories in our house, amazing. this was written in a different style to his rangers apprentice series. hard to top those. Piers Wehner performance was great, but not a patch on William Zappa. different accents , pronunciation and emotion all of which detracted from the story. but not a problem for those who have time to sit and read. hope they don't destroy this fantastic legacy when the movie is made for rangers apprentice.,( eg how to Train your Dragon- amazing books vs butchered dream works production).wow got off subject.

love the author, love the voice actor William Zappa. We now have come to the end of our time with this fantastic family favourite. we just can't do the new voice actor. We listen to the preview. I hope Mr Zappa could find himself attached to some high end books so we can enjoy his easy and varied voices.

yep. liked this story and it's pace. as usual Mr Vance tells it the way I like it. Although I usually listen a story at 1.10 and even quicker if a chapter is exciting. more interesting things happened in the second book. do wish the books were longer. I recommend waiting for the complete series before starting.

cool varient of mage and magic. strong story that was a little long winded at times, for me. Brian McClellan writes so well and this journey was brilliant. I have found another great author to follow. I liked the end to this story. thank you.

very enjoyable story. liked the style in which it was written. tidy ending- all makes for a great read. narration excellent. I pretty much only listen to fantasy these days . Not to heavy with magic. I recommend this to like minded souls.
