Once you get over the intro of skippy euthanasia and graffic profanity this book is a winner. Honest natural narration. Electric story line and fast. Plausible.
Recommend this book for Rake lovers and yes there is a un expected laugh. Currently reading recommended.

wonderful narration of a must read book about Australian women during WW11. Genuinely heart moving. The sacrefice of family to keep our beloved country going. It was refreshing to read of South Australia a all too often forgotten state than has given so much to Austtralian history.
tears often flowed as the charectors were bought to life in a relaxed familiar way.
To wait until the 1990s for these wonderful women to be recognised by Canberra is a shame, most would have passed by then.
Thank You for writing this wonderful book and making us realize the work it took to produce the crops in the past .we have such machines now. There is a lesson too of attitude and respect working together with pride. something missing in today's society.

Abandoned this half way through . Tried to hang in there to find out who the serial killer was but it became a constant trail of profanity . If this is ment to shock it failed and simply repulsed.
Rough and grotty. Not about the story but a narration of abuse. 🚮

The amusing quirk of the mis pronuciation of South Australia names made me smile. I couldn't help thinking these guys probably think Sydney is the capital of Australia and kangaroos hop down the main street of Adelaide.
I just wish homework was done before the narration. The story concepts are more than familiar , plausible. Especially in the hard remote area of the mid north. Some towns are isolated and have secrets not far from the surface if you know where to look.
The beauty of the area was captured in the description of the landscape perfectly. It would be nice to have more from South Australia. NSW VIC trend to overshadow her only too often. I did enjoy this book and was looking for another chapter.

Drawn to it like a magnet gripping ,powerful. If u are Australian grown up in the bush during the drought, this book transports u right back there in the heat people smells feelings and hard ship. Combine it with a sophisticated crime or 2 and you are caught. Un able to stay away from it like a must have long drink of water.
Narrator was perfect for this Australian book a great combination.
promotional material on internet is a wow factor and gives foundations to the town .looking forward to another.

The people are brought to life, all individual yet meshed together. Beautifully narrated.
Especially liked the part with Reverend Applegate and the church council with the candle burning. smile.
to have 2 murders and a mystery with a twist of a third murder at the end was good.
recommend put your feet up with a cuppa and enjoy this book.

Don't go there . Don't open the door. .....got ya! I made the mistake thinking relax with a children's book for a change. Can't be too scary a tale Dibleys vicar is telling the story. My heart is still racing after 2 days and I can't look at our old moggy with out thinking he is going to start speaking.
I found myself wide eyed with hands gripping onto the pillow. Wonderfully narrated. A children's story for all ages. Just when you thinking is over and your beta blockers have prevented your heart from bursting out your chest. Take a breath THE HAND with a much needed manicure comes a tap tap tapping........wanting some.....one.🗝👻

A tale of life and death of new beginnings. Especially liked the way Jesse made a vow to herself , to be true. Many women lose their own identity when they are married. To know you can be yourself and still be married is a realization that only comes with honest love and maturing of self.🕊
The analogy of the beautiful mermaids diving deep into the water was meaningful.
Another book I could not put down beacuse I was transported into a different world.🐬

The characters are interesting and the story won't let you go. 🎼
