As a journalist, Leigh Sales often encounters people experiencing the worst moments of their lives in the full glare of the media. But one particular string of bad news stories - and a terrifying brush with her own mortality - sent her looking for answers about how vulnerable each of us is to a life-changing event. What are our chances of actually experiencing one? What do we fear most and why? And when the worst does happen, what comes next? In this wise and layered audiobook, Leigh talks intimately with people who've faced the unimaginable, from terrorism to natural disaster to simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I wasn't really sure what I would get from this book. I knew it was to tackle people that dealt with serious trauma and I was slightly worried it would upset me, but it didn't. I am so very hopeful because of this book. Hopeful about life.

And we are encouraged to worry about everything from world politics to our body mass index. How can we stay sane on a planet that makes us mad? How do we stay human in a technological world? How do we feel happy when we are encouraged to be anxious?

I truly resonant a lot with what Matt Haig writes in this novel, his ideas on life I could not agree more with. He has inspired me to be more aware of the technology I use and to use it less, to go out in nature and to find peace. I highly recommend this.

I watch Alex occasionally on YouTube and subscribed to his emails. He often mentions ideas that really resonate with me. I thought I would give his book a go and I am not disappointed. Alex reads well and explains things in a very easy to understand way. The ideas in this book aren't crazy they are crazy simple but it is hard for us to take action that's where alex breaks it down for us. Absolutely love it and have already recommended it.
