Story
Pony just wants to fly under the radar during senior year. Tired from all the attention he got at his old school after coming out as transgender, he’s looking for a fresh start at Hillcrest High. But it’s hard to live your best life when the threat of exposure lurks down every hallway and in every bathroom. Georgia is beginning to think there’s more to life than cheerleading. She plans on keeping a low profile until graduation...which is why she promised herself that dating was officially a no-go this year.

This is beautifully written and gives much insight into feelings and fears of transgender people and those they come out to. With a hue of to good to be true-sounding fairy tale, it still presents important aspects of the dark and scary truths of the transgender experience. I believe it may be and important read to increase understanding compassion and support for transgender journeys.

Story
Jamie Goldberg is cool with volunteering for his local state candidate - as long as he’s behind the scenes. There’s no way he’d ever knock on doors to ask people for their votes...until he meets Maya. Maya Rehman’s having the worst Ramadan ever. Her best friend is too busy to hang out, her summer trip is cancelled, her parents are separating and now her mother thinks the solution to her problems is political canvassing - with some awkward guy she hardly knows....

A beautiful story of two teens on a social justice venture. Intertwining race, teen awkwardness, and importance of voting in a sweet careful love story. It is a wonderful collaboration between Albertalli and Saeed and I am hoping for more from the team. Maybe even a second installment of this story.
