For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare - poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force Tactical Air Controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

Having both the writer and the narrator there together was great. They would often leave the script and chat more about what was going on at that time in the book. This added so much more depth to the tale being told and allowed a greater connection with the author.

Of course this book was always going to be entertaining but more importantly to me was the insight to the mindset that got this man over every hurdle and past every set back from humble beginnings to incredible success.
The only drawback old this book is that it had to end. I pity the next author who's work I read because this is a tough act to follow.

To begin with I thought to myself "oh great, I'm going to listen to this book for hours when essentially all that needed to be said was "first things first" or "focus on what's important" but this book gives so much more.

I work two jobs, have a wonderful wife and 3 beauiful children (the oldest being 3). Life is stressful at the best of times and Ive always felt that I had to be working my ass off every minute of the day to stay on top of everything. I often felt like if I slept i was somehow losing ground and the idea of "getting ahead" sounded almost impossible.

Insightful and enlightening, this book gave me a strong and clear message that I really needed to hear. It will take a while to apply all the lessons in this book to my life but this is one book I will revisit often.

Thank you Greg McKeown

Having spirited his beloved Princess Stephané safely out of Roldem, Hal - now Duke of Crydee - must turn his attention to the defence of the ancient realm so that a king can be anointed by the Congress of Lords, rather than by right of might.

A satisfying end to an amazing series. I just hope they go back to the beginning (Magician) and do the entire series in audio format with Peter Joyce doing the narration.
