The idea behind this story is a good one and I bought the second book however the narration has some strange unneeded pauses and the way the author flip flops between referring to characters by their first or last name is at time confusing and at others simply annoying.

I couldn’t get past the first 15 minutes the story just didn’t grab me at all. The male narrator was also difficult to take seriously.

While I enjoyed the story and the accent/voices were not jarring I did find the narrators Joyce of accents a little strange.
Having said that I have read this book before so I can into it with some preconceived ideas.

I listened to the rock kids books narrated by the same person and found her male voices impressive and in general a very good narration. However her voices in this one were grating I listened to a couple of sentences spoken by the hero and couldn’t get past it. The accent is atrocious made worse by the fact that the hero appears in another book and did not sound like this I don’t understand why she changed it.
