Love these books and the narrator. I take it from the talk of the Monica Lewinsky scandal, Nokia phones and The Truman Show that the book is meant to be set in the late 90s. Then in chapter 6 a reference to Pharrell's song Happy from 2013. Totally threw me, can't believe an editor didn't pick it up. Enjoyable non the less.

I feel this book ended too quickly, so much build up for a short conclusion but still very enjoyable. The narrator brings it to live beautifully.

Read The Binding instead

Laboured and overwrought. The characters lacked depth. Characters pitted against each other then tied in a bow in the end. The time period felt like an afterthought or just there to carry the steampunk elements. A big disappointment.

The story is a bit cliched, the writing hammy in parts and the Charlie character is annoying but inspite of this I enjoyed it. It keep me listening and all the things you want to happen, happen. Sweet and satisfying.

Beautiful and superbly narrated.

Brilliant, touching and hilarious. The authors narration was perfection. I can't wait to listen again.
